Fischbach means quality –
and sustainability

Sustainability, without compromising functionality or quality, is a key priority for Fischbach and is the focus of Eco 4. Fischbach Eco 4+ an innovative concept with four strong pillars: Logistics, PCR content, Recycling compatibility and Energy Management.

Logistics

sustainably imagined

  • With 10 production facilities worldwide, Fischbach is the only cartridge producer with a multi-site international footprint.
  • This multi-site approach – with manufacturing facilities strategically located near our customer base – allows us to reduce transport carbon footprint, costs and delivery times.

Logistics

sustainably imagined

  • Only producing near customers will reduce transport overheads and delivery times.
  • A shorter transport route will signiƒcantly reduce climate-damaging greenhouse gases.
  • As the only cartridge manufacturer, Fischbach has been producing at many sites – including
abroad – for over 40 years.
  • With 10 sites worldwide we are always near our customers.

Our short transport routes for cartridges
ensure optimum calculability for deliveries
and massive CO2 savings.

Welcome future

PCR cartridges with recyclate content.

  • Fischbach has demonstrated capability to produce cartridges with at least 50% PCR.
  • We focused on implementing technology in the future that will expand increase the % recyclate in our offering.
  • Fischbach PCR content cartridges are reviewed with the same quality tests like non-PCR cartridges.
  • We will produce PCR content cartridges in gray (standard) and black color to meet customer needs.

Welcome future

PCR-/PIR cartridges with recyclate content.

  • Our recyclate content when producing PCI/PCR cartridges is at least 30 %. In future, we will be able to exibly adjust this percentage.
  • We guarantee tested dimensions and printing in the same quality as products made from virgin material.
  • On customer request we can produce cartridges with recyclate content in dierent colors.

The color for recyclate cartridges is gray –

because it is proven that LVP systems (for sorting lightweight packaging) can correctly detect its materials.

Fischbach cartridges have been certied to be of optimum recyclability by the Duales System licensee »Interseroh« – whether as virgin materials or products with recycling content.

Further we operate according to the RecyClass standard. This certification confirms that the origin and components of our post-consumer quality have been thoroughly assessed. By adhering to these strict guidelines, we not only ensure the quality of our products but also actively contribute to environmental protection and the promotion of recycling. Our commitment to sustainable practice is reflected in every step of our process.

Good to know:

The filled-in product, i.e., silicone, will make
the overall packaging not recyclable.

Our PCR recyclate comes from various applications.
Therefore, we cannot guarantee the chemical
properties and storage stability of our cartridges
with recyclate content.

We recommend our customers to check whether
their products are suitable for cartridges with
recyclate content.

Our NIR-Marker

The future state-of-the-art for
detecting cartridges with residue.

  • Challenge: Conventional processing plants are unable to recycle cartridges with incompatible residue (e.g., silicone). Therefore, recyclers often consider used, empty silicone cartridges as unwanted materials.
  • Solution: Together with reputable Duales System technology partners, we are developing a marker which the NIR (Near Infrared) scanners that can be read by automated sorters at recyclers.
  • Goal: Contaminated cartridges can be filtered from the process stream for thermal processing or differentiated recycling.

  • Aim: Targeted ƒltering of the »markered« cartridge from the material system for further thermal processing or recycling.

Results:

Improves the HD-PE recycling quality of the other products.

Improves the HD-PE recycling quality of the other products.

In future, the Duales System can reduce taris for cartridges with markers to drive cartridge distribution companies to use the NIR marker.

Conclusion:
A win-win situation for everyone: manufacturers,
distributors, recyclers and the environment !

WE CONSERVE ENERGY WITH A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH

  • Fischbach is introducing an energy management system that aligns with ISO 50001.
  • This system captures and evaluates all energy stream from machines, systems and facilities
  • Yearly energy audits verify energy improvements at our production sites and lead to consistent reductions in electricity consumption.
  • In the near term we will invest in additional photovoltaics systems at our sites in Engelskirchen and Großenhain in Germany.
  • Our European facilities are planning to launch an environmental management system according to ISO 14001 or EMAS.

We back energy with a system

  •  Fischbach is working on evolving our introduced energy management system according to ISO 50001.
  • It captures and evaluates all the energy streams from machines, systems and building technology.
  •  Every year we verify energy improvements at our production sites, e.g., a consistent reduction of our electricity consumption.
  • In the near term we will invest in additional photovoltaics systems at our sites in Engelskirchen and Großenhain.
  • We are planning to launch an environmental management system according to ISO 14001 or EMAS.
